Special protection is applied under Article 85 GDPR (Freedom of Expression and Information).

Depending on user interaction, we may process: Optional contact details (email, name – only if provided) Whistleblower submissions and supporting evidence. Technical data (IP address, browser type – temporary and security-only) Responses or statements from individuals named in reports. We do not require real names for submissions.

5. Special Category Data (Article 9 GDPR)

Sensitive data (e.g. political views, health data) is processed only when: It is directly relevant to public-interest reporting. Publication is ethically justified. Data is handled with strict safeguards and redaction where necessary

In line with GDPR principles and press-freedom standards: Anonymous submissions are fully supported. No system is designed to identify anonymous users. Identifying metadata is minimised or removed where possible. Editorial access to sensitive data is strictly limited. Source protection overrides all non-essential data retention.

8. Data Storage, Security & Retention

We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures, including: Secure servers and access controls. Encryption where appropriate. Restricted editorial access. Regular security review.

Retention:
Data is retained only for as long as necessary for: Public-interest reporting. Legal defence or compliance. Historical and journalistic archiving. Data is securely deleted when no longer required.

Does not sell or trade personal data. Does not share data with advertisers or political entities. Data may be disclosed only: With explicit consent,Under lawful court order. To prevent imminent harm. No data is transferred internationally without appropriate safeguards.

12. Automated Decision-Making

JournalistScandal.com does not use automated decision-making or profiling under Article 22 GDPR.

All editorial decisions involve human review.
